Kateryna Lagno is a chess grandmaster and one of the most accomplished female players in the world. A chess prodigy, she became a Woman Grandmaster at just 12 years old and earned her full Grandmaster title in 2007. Her career is filled with individual and team successes, making her a dominant force in women’s chess for over two decades.
Lagno’s versatility has earned her top titles, including the Women's World Blitz Champion in 2010, 2018, and 2019, and the Women's World Rapid Champion in 2014. Additionally, she was the runner-up in the 2018 Women’s World Chess Championship, narrowly losing to Ju Wenjun. She also secured European Women's Championships twice, in 2005 and 2008.
Her team performances are equally impressive. She won multiple gold medals at the Chess Olympiads and Women's World Team Championships.
In 2024, Lagno continues to compete at the highest levels while balancing a busy personal life as a mother of four. She remains a formidable competitor, consistently ranked among the top female players globally with a FIDE rating of 2527.
