The Global Chess League, a joint venture between FIDE and Tech Mahindra, today unveiled the official jerseys of all six franchises ahead of Season 2. The league is scheduled to take place in London from October 3 to 12, 2024. Following the highly successful 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad, the unique 10-day chess league aims to build on the achievements of its inaugural season. Each team jersey has been designed to represent the spirit of its franchise and showcase the league’s global appeal.

Just over a week is left for the start of the second season of the Global Chess League, a joint venture between Tech Mahindra and FIDE, and Indian Chess grandmaster Nihal Sarin, who will be competing for PBG Alaskan Knights, expressed his excitement for the upcoming tournament. The second season will take place in London between October 3rd and October 12th, and Nihal, who will return as a Prodigy this year, said that he enjoys the unpredictable nature of the tournament.

Grandmaster Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who is set to feature for the debutant team American Gambits, shared his thoughts on the upcoming edition of the tournament.

“The Global Chess League is the only chess event where team owners can draft players. It makes me feel like an NBA player for a while,” Duda expressed.

Viswanathan Anand will return as the Icon player for Ganges Grandmasters 

With less than a month left before the second season of the Global Chess League, a joint venture between Tech Mahindra and FIDE, legendary Indian Chess Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand expressed his excitement for the upcoming tournament. The competition will take place between October 3rd and October 12th in London, and the five-time World Champion opened up on his reasons for returning to the tournament this year.

Arjun Erigaisi, the 21-year-old chess prodigy from Warangal, has been creating waves this year with a career-best ranking. He ascended to World No.4 in the FIDE world ratings in June this year after beating France’s Loic Travadon in the French Team Chess Championship 2024.

With the Chess Olympiad starting in Budapest this month and the much-awaited Tech Mahindra Global Chess League starting in London on 3rd October, Arjun exuded confidence and excitement as he prepares for a busy chess season.

Vaishali R, who earned the Grandmaster (GM) title in December 2023, is set to make her debut in the second season of the Global Chess League, a joint venture between Tech Mahindra and FIDE.

The 23-year-old Grandmaster was among the top picks at the Global Chess League player draft held in August. Expressing excitement about making her debut at the Global Chess League, Vaishali said, “I was thrilled to follow the first season; it was so much fun. I’m very excited to play in the Global Chess League this year, and I want to give my best to my team.”

upGrad Mumba Masters’ Vidit Gujrathi is gearing up for the second season of the Global Chess League, a joint venture between Tech Mahindra and FIDE. The league will take place in London from the 3rd to the 12th of October at Friends House, and Vidit wishes to improve his performance to help his team earn the Global Chess League Winning title.

The Global Chess League, a joint venture between FIDE and Tech Mahindra, is all set for the second season as 30 of the world’s best chess players were handpicked by six franchises during the Player Draft held on Sunday in New Delhi.

Raunak Sadhwani, who earned the Grandmaster title at the age of 13, will be making his comeback in the second season. To further add to the excitement, World No. 54 and Grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov returns to the fray along with Jonas Buhl Bjerre and Nihal Sarin. They will be joined by Daniel Dardha and Volodar Murzin for the highly anticipated second season.
